What does "UGG boot" mean?
The term UGG does NOT refer to a specific brand, as there are a wide range of brands using the term UGG in their name (e.g. Shearers UGG,Outback UGG, etc.). The terms UGG boots, UGH boots and UG boots (and other various forms of spelling) have been used as generic terms for sheepskin boots in Australia since 1950s and 1960s. UGG boots started as shearers' footwear in the early 20th century and their modern incarnation came as a part of Australian surfing culture in the 1960's.

PLEASE NOTE:
The brand "UGG Australia" is a registered trademark of the American company DECKERS OUTDOOR CORPORATION. The majority of its products is manufactured in China, especially products for the US, UK, European and Asian markets. UGG Australia footwear produced by Deckers Outdoor Corporation is not MADE in AUSTRALIA.
